Ashlee Holmes: 1 Month at MUD (recap)

Hey you guys! If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram ( @ashleeholmes ) , You probably know that I am currently a student at the Make Up Designory. I am currently enrolled in the Multimedia program at the school. I’ll be learning beauty makeup, hair styling, character makeup, and special effects. I am beyond in love with the school. I started school on January 28th. My expected graduation date is June 5th.

I thought I would share my experience with you all as the weeks go on. Especially if there are some fellow makeup lovers interested in attending the school.

Within the first 2 weeks of school we learned how to match and apply base, how to prime the face, negative shadows, postive hightlights, highlighting & contouring, how to apply eyeliner, eyebrow correction, how to apply mascara, how to apply lip liner, how to apply lipstick and how to apply eyelashes ( strips and individuals —individuals are my FAVORITE! ) .

The 3rd week of school was great! We definitely learned a lot more “fun” stuff than we did in weeks 1&2 –even though I LOVE all of it. I learned how to create a quick natural look –a few different styles. We were taught how to do ‘overlays’ which were actually pretty difficult… my hands kept cramping. It sucked. I was proud of how my images turned out though. We also learned how to do more fun looks… such as glam and smokey eye. I even got to put my skills to the test when I had a photoshoot with my friend this past week 🙂 — You can check those out here.

The end of the month we discussed the business side of makeup. What we should charge for certain services etc… We also learned how we should behave on set in regards to working in the film and television industry. We then learned airbrush makeup –including airbrush tanning. OH! AND… we learned tattoo cover up as well! I love it. I’ve gotten A’s on all of my exams so far –including my mid term.

I haven’t taken too many photos, but you can check out some of these to get an idea of what I’ve been up to… I really should start taking more…
