Within Temptation Presents Their New Single & ‘Hydra’ Reaches #1

Whole World Is Watching” is the new Within Temptation’s single, released in two versions, from their new upcoming album “Hydra

One with Dave Pirner from US band Soul Asylum and another one with Piotr Rogucki from Polish band COMA.

The song is another amazing ballad from the Holland symphonic metal band, with such a deep meaning that definitely going to move or fall in tears (personally it happened in both version).

Sharon’s voice is like the one of an angel, I will never stop to say it, when she sings it’s like to listen to a lullaby. Her voice fills in my veins and warms my heart.

“When we wrote ‘Whole World Is Watching’, Dave was at the very top of our list,” said Sharon Den Adel. “He has such a captivating voice: it made the song exactly how it needed to be.”

Personally I love both versions.

I love the one with Dave’s because the two voices blend in an only one.

I love the one with Piotr because he has a deeper voice and it creates a really great contrast with Sharon’s angelic voice.

The song is a hymn to the life, to never surrend, to fight for what you want and quoting a verse:

The whole world is watching when you rise.”

Don’t give up, because you worth and you can do a lot with your life, don’t waste it!

There will always be bad times but there will be also good ones.

Fight, fight, fight!

The music video reflects all these feelings showing a boy having a motorcycle accident and costricted to stay in a hospital bed and on a wheelchair but he tries to find his inner strenght for to fight and start to live again. He cuts his hair, shaves his bread and starts the rehabilitation and in the end he comes back to his life, coming back to ride his motorcycle.

More I listen to this song more I figure it as soundtrack in a movie, more I listen to this song I move and cry. It was since Within Temptation’s Utopia songs and music video I didn’t hardly cry.

This is definitely my favorite song at the moment.

Enjoy the two versions:

You live your life. You go day by day like nothing can go wrong. Those colors are made, they’re changing the game. You learn to play it hard.

And I know you wish for more, and I know you try. And I hope you realize, you know the time is right.

The whole world is watching when you rise. The whole world is beating for you right now. Your whole life is flashing before your eyes. It’s all in this moment that changes all.

What are you waiting for? What are you fighting for? Cause time’s always slipping away. The whole world is watching. Yeah, the whole world is watching. You’re in your right.

You build your walls then break them away cause that is what it takes. You saved yourself. You found who you are, and that never goes away.

Your sacrifice comes to your mind, but nothing is wasted. You made it now. You rise again, reaching out. He stands as he’s taking his claim to prize.

The whole world is watching. Yeah, the whole world is watching. You’re in your right.

What are you waiting for? What are you fighting for? Cause time’s always slipping away. The whole world is watching. Yeah, the whole world is watching. You’re in your right.

In a recent interview with Ultimate-Guitar.com, Sharon stated about the songwriting process for “Hydra”“: “A lot of bands were inspired by the ’80s at the time we were writing ‘The Unforgiving’ album. There was a lot of music based on the ’80s coming out and it had a lot of ’80s flavors. With this new album, even though we’re only a few years further up the road, you can feel that music has changed again. Music is not inspired on the ’80s, but more like there are different influences in the music again. Music’s always organic, and you feel things are changing comfortably.”

She added: “When people asked us after ‘The Unforgiving’, ‘Are you gonna make another ‘Unforgiving’ album?” we said, ‘Of course.’ Because we were really full of it in a positive way. We really like the album a lot and still do like it a lot but we really feel there’s an ’80s feel to the songs. When we started writing this album, again we felt like we were already knowing we were gonna go a different direction also.”
