Blink 182 Rocks Los Angeles!
Last night was full of mixed emotions. 15 years have passed since the last time I saw Blink 182, so when I was offered tickets to see the first of their two sold out shows at LA’s famed Palladium music venue, there was no way I was going to pass up the opportunity to see Tom Delonge, Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker rock the stage!
I arrived at the venue and was met by a monsterous line of hardcore Blink fans, making it is clear the band’s music has stood the test of time. There were fans of all ages packed inside, smart phones ready to capture the magic onstage for their Instagram feeds. I think I even saw someone with an iPad…Lolzz.
The band took the stage and the crowd erupted in applause and screams for the pop-punk rock trio. Yes they have aged, but have managed to retain their youthful energy and style. Literally. Tom was dressed in a long sleeve shgirt layered under a t-shirt and flat billed hat taking me back to the day I met him at the MTV Beach House in 1999! Totally chill, but made me feel old!
The band played a ton of new material and I’d also like to point out that Travis SLAYED the drums. I can safely say it was the most impressive part of the show. That as well as Mark and Tom’s distinct singing tradeoff that hasn’t lost it’s luster since “Dammit” was their huge hit.
After an hour and a half of oldies, goodies, newbies, drinks, dancing and too much fun, the band closed the show with “Dammit,” which had the entire venue going absolutley crazy. Confetti was flying, sweat was spewing and everyone was screaming the lyrics! It was a magical moment that I won’t be forgetting anytime soon!
