Fashion Week: My Style Inspo

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, you probably have realized by now that New York Fashion Week 2013 is in full swing! Celebrities, designers, beautiful clothes, posh parties and gorgeous models… le sighhhhh. I’m a lover of fashion. I love watching designs come to life and walk down the runway on girls who are about 3 feet taller than me. I appreciate the colors, fabrics and trends, but at the end of the day, not only can I probably not afford anything the models or celebrities are wearing, I also don’t know how much of it I actually WOULD want to wear. I mean come on…. some of it is just a little out there. So you might be thinking… this doesn’t really pertain to normal people, but it does! You just have to use a little imagination. The key is taking note of trends in fashion week and finding colors, styles and other trends that you can change to make more acceptable for every day wear and an every day budget.

I thought it would be fun to show you some Fashion Week trends from then and now, and how I would incorporate those trends into my every day life.

Fashion Week Look: Valentino

My Pick:

The trend I loved was the collar and classy fit, so I found this Forever 21 dress for $16 that ended up being the same color too!

Fashion Week Look: Badgely Mischka

My Pick:

I adore neon. I’ve seen it so much on the runway but knew I couldn’t afford a $10,000 designer dress, so I found this adorable dress from YesStyle!! In love. And the best part? It’s only $40!

Fashion Week Look: Viktor & Rolf

My Pick:

Leather is amazing and is really making a come back! I actually bought shorts very similar to these from topshop! I love pairing them with a comfy sweater, low boots and tights for a great fall look.

Fashion Week Look:BCBG Maxazria

My Pick:

The fashion week look is a bit much, in my opinion, but I LOVE all of the faux fur I’m seeing. This $60 vest is perfect for fall and winter. I love the way it’s styled here, too. I might change up the boots, but I think the colors and tectures are great.

Fashion Week Look: Burberry

My Pick:

Metallics! Ugh. This trend is so FUN! I wanna metallic every weekend. Is that a verb now? To metallic? No? Okay then! Moving on! The fashion week look just doesn’t do it for me, but I love the metallic trend. I’d wear metallic leggings with boots. Yes please. Give me all the metallic leggings!!

Fashion Week Look: Makeup!

Fashion Week hair and makeup is one of my favorite things to gain inspiration from! I saw tons of trends from bright stained lips like these to wine colored lipstick and purple eyeshadow. It’s all about moderation. You may not want to walk around in the grocery store with blue eyeshadow and bright pink lips, but a bright pink lip with neutral eye makeup, in my opinion, is awesome. Not only is it fashion forward, it shows your personality. I don’t mind being that girl at work who sometimes wears bright pink lipstick, but I try to keep the rest of my look toned down if I’m going for that at work.

What are your favorite NY Fashion Week 2013 looks from the designers and attendees?? Leave me a comment about that and how you’ll adapt it for yourself. :)
