Barbara Walters Threw Katy Perry Shade?
Katy Perry has arguably the most highly anticipated albums of the fall. PRISM, is the follow up to KP’s record breaking Teenage Dream and with the success of the album’s lead single, “Roar” — this album will no doubt be a sweet treat.
Katy talked to Billboard to help promote the new album and shared an awkward story from working with Barbara Walters on her 2011 Most Fascinating People special. Don’t mess with Babs y’all.
“When I got there, I apologized immediately, but then she said to me, ‘You know, I’ve only ever waited for one other person this long, and you know who that person was? Judy Garland. You know how she turned out, right?’ I was like, ‘Oh, snap! Yes, bitch!’ I think it’s the coolest thing that Barbara Walters shaded me. I just couldn’t tell her as we were sitting down for a mega-interview, ‘Hey, my marriage is falling apart. Give me a break.’”
Fans may remember this was around the time Katy’s marriage to comedian Russell Brand was falling apart. Also from the Judy Garland comment, we can assume Walters waited over 4 hours for Katy to arrive.
The new interview also confirms “Unconditionally” will be Katy’s next official single. No date has been confirmed for the release but we can assume it will be in the coming weeks.
