Patty’s Pick: ‘Warm Bodies’ – A Zombie Movie With A Lot Of Heart!

Let me start out by saying, I am not a big zombie movie fan by any means. Aside from the adorable movie Paranorman, they’re wayyyy too creepy for me. So when Buzznet sent me to preview the zombie flick, Warm Bodies, I was a tad worried about the content – I just don’t do gory movies! I sat through it expecting the worst, but ended up walking out loving it!

*WARNING: Spoiler Alert! Don’t read further if you don’t want the movie to be spoiled!

I mean, what movie can get away with its main character eating brains without inducing physical illness? Gore and guts are just not my forte. And while there was brain consumption and the movie was chock-full of decomposing zombie bodies, it was just enough to satisfy true zombie flick fans, but tame enough for the easily queasy (that would be ME).

Warm Bodies centers around R (X-Men: First Class hottie Nicholas Hoult), a teenage zombie who yearns for more than spending his days stomping around a zombie-filled airport. His world is rocked when he encounters Julie (Teresa Palmer), a human survivor… talk about wanting to date someone out of your league! Julie starts to see that R isn’t the average zombie and the two form a special relationship. R starts to become more human and together they set off on an adventurous journey.

Side note: Dave Franco fans – brace yourselves! Your beloved Davy is actually killed in the first 15 minutes of the movie! Luckily there are a lot of flashback scenes with him in it, so relax! There’s enough of him to go around.

Warm Bodies was a great love story as well as a touching one about humanity and true friendship. While many compare it to the Twilight Saga, the film is more along the lines of Romeo and Juliet with zombies – minus the everyone dies part. It’s a win-win!

*Patty’s Pick: 4/5 stars
