‘The Carrie Diaries’ Recap: Lie With Me

The Carrie Diaries is quickly becoming our favorite new show! Last week’s series premiere introduced us to 16-year-old Carrie Bradshaw (AnnaSophia Robb) as she entered her junior year of high school.

We also met her family: widower father (Matt Flescher), younger sister Dorritt (Stefania Owen), and close friends, Mouse (Ellen Wong), Maggie (Katie Findlay) and Walt. Of course we can’t NOT mention hunky Sebastian (Austin Butler), Carrie’s love interest, snarky popular girl, Donna (Chloe Bridges) and fashionista Larissa (Freema Agyman), who seems to take Carrie under her wing. Sweet!

*Warning: Spoiler alert! Do not read further if you don’t want to know what happened in the second episode.

This week’s “Lie to Me” episode started off with Carrie and Dorritt being grounded: Carrie for staying out past curfew and Dorritt for running away. Sebastian invites Carrie to dinner at the country club and tries to persuade her to sneak out of the house. Ever the obedient daughter, Carrie resists, but regrets her decision when she finds out through Mouse that he was snuggling up to rival Donna (not true – she puts the moves, but realizes he’s all about Carrie).

Meanwhile, Maggie is pressuring Walt, her boyfriend of two years, to have sex. When Walt says he’s not ready yet, she gets it on with her fling. Walt breaks up with Maggie after realizing he doesn’t care abot the realtionship anymore. Can’t wait to see where Walt is headed!

Despite what Mouse told her, Carrie decides to change her seemingly good-girl ways and invites Sebastian to the pool, since the swim club is all she’s allowed to do on her grounding. He shows and it’s great – except when Dorritt, who Carrie was supposed to hang out with, gets visibly upset and storms home, getting dad Tom involved. Tom walks in on Sebastian and Carrie mid-makeout at the pool. Ummm awkward! Sebastian tries be polite, but Tom is over it and forbids Carrie to see Sebastian.

On the work front, Carrie’s double life almost gets her fired when her boss catches her taking a personal call (a big no-no) and arriving hours late after she supposedly ran errands (she was really with Larissa at a shoot). She’s saved by her “fake confidence” – and a Dior scarf – at least for now.

Will Carrie’s double life get her fired soon? Will Sebastian and Carrie ever officially get together? What big secret does Tom know about Sebastian’s family? Stay tuned to Buzznet next week for the week’s recap!

The Carrie Diaries airs Mondays on The CW at 8PM.

Which couple are you rooting for: Sebastian & Carrie, Maggie & Walt or Sebastian & Donna?
