Is Channing Tatum Saying Goodbye To Acting?

After being crowned People‘s Sexiest Man Alive and starring in a string of box office hits, Channing Tatum has decided to quit acting. Now, before you feel the need to cry while watching 21 Jump Street and Magic Mike, relax – he’s not actually quitting for good. He’s just taking a much-needed break! Channing and his writing partner Reid Carolin are working on a directing project they want to focus on.

He revealed to Entertainment Weekly: “[Reid and I] have about three to four ideas that we love that are all in the hopper. By the end of next year, we’re going to shut things down and write the first thing that we’re going to direct. We’re going to be like, alright, no more acting parts for a minute, let’s take a few and really get caring about that section of our career.”

Don’t worry – Channing will be seen in a number of projects before he decides to take a step behind the camera. The hunky actor has another four projects in the works for 2013, including Side Effects and Foxcatcher. He’s also confirmed to do a Magic Mike sequel and is slated to play the iconic Evel Knievel in a biopic.

“I love the steps that I’ve taken acting-wise. That has been a wild sort of exploration. But I don’t want to just keep putting [directing] off for these fun and incredible opportunities.”

Are you for or against Channing taking a break from acting? Do you think he can take a break or will he lose momentum as a star?
