New Us Cover Video: Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” Goes Folk

The musical duo Carissa Rae and Michael Alvarado, known as Us, released their cover of Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” with a Mumford and Sons twist for their Studio Sessions #2. The first of their Studio Sessions was a cover of Rihanna’s “Where Have You Been” back in August!

Turning “Call Me Maybe” into a pop/folk jam worked in all the right ways. Between the addition of background vocals similar to The Lumineers‘ “Ho Hey,” a stand-up bass and a banjo, it’s full of spirit and joy. I’m a sucker for a killer banjo part.

The chemistry between this talented couple is super fun to watch. I’m excited to see what they cook up for their next video.
