Get The Look: Dum Dum Girls’ Girly Goth Style

In my secret heart of hearts, I want to be in a girl group. I want to be a member of a secret musical gang, with a bad-a** sound and even badder style. You know, like The Ronettes or The Runaways or the subject of this very gallery, the Dum Dum Girls. The Dum Dums are like the modern day answer to the girl groups of yore, a dream-noise-pop outfit who make the kind of music that would make Ronnie Spector proud and who have a look that speaks to my inner goth: all black clothes and bangs and moto jackets and various types of awesome tights.

Head Dum Dum Girl Dee Dee (say that three times fast) has long been collaborating with Richard Gottehrer (he wrote “My Boyfriend’s Back, no big deal) and their latest album is an exercise in beautiful girl-group shoegaze: lush, riff-heavy garage rock that is moody and melodic and perfect for long drives around town with your own group of bad girls. You can buy the Dum Dum Girls’ latest EP End Of Daze on iTunes.

But even if you’re not ditching school to make awesome music and ride around town with unsavory types, doesn’t mean you can’t look like you do.
