No Doubt Pulls ‘Looking Hot’ Video After Racial Backlash

For as long as No Doubt has been together, it seems as though the band can do no wrong. From their infectious songs to their killer style, they have no problem catching the attention of music lovers everywhere. However, it seems as the though the band took a major misstep with their video for “Looking Hot” off their new record Push And Shove.

In the video, Gwen Stefani plays an Indian woman captured by cowboys Tom Dumont and Adrian Young. She is then rescued by Indian chief Tony Kanal. It was pulled down within hours of hitting YouTube November 2, after receiving serious backlash for what many felt was demeaning and insensitive content.

The band, whose intention was never to depict offensive sterotypes, quickly jumped to apologize to all those offended by immediately releasing a statement on their official website which read:

“As a multi-racial band our foundation is built upon both diversity and consideration for other cultures. Our intention with our new video was never to offend, hurt or trivialize Native American people, their culture or their history. Although we consulted with Native American friends and Native American studies experts at the University of California, we realize now that we have offended people. This is of great concern to us and we are removing the video immediately. The music that inspired us when we started the band, and the community of friends, family, and fans that surrounds us was built upon respect, unity and inclusiveness. We sincerely apologize to the Native American community and anyone else offended by this video. Being hurtful to anyone is simply not who we are.”

There is no word if the band plan to shoot a new video in support of the single.
