Bands To Buzz About: Fall 2012

Fall is vastly approaching and you know what that means! Sweaters, boots, hoodies, pumpkin spice everything and of course, new music! Here are a few bands/artists that you need to look out for this fall!

1. Carly Rae Jepsen

Pop princess Carly Rae Jepsen just released her US debut, Kiss, and is still burning up the airwaves and blogosphere with her catchy anthem, “Call Me Maybe” along with her duet with Owl City in “Good Time.” Look for her next single, “This Kiss,” to blow up the airwaves really soon! Kiss is pure pop brilliance.

2. Ellie Goulding

Brit-pop songstress Ellie Goulding is gearing up for her sophomore release, Halcyon, on October 9th. Her single, “Anything Could Happen” is just a taste of what’s to come. Anything could happen on this next album. 😉

3. Honor Society

I know I featured Honor Society on my summer list, but these guys are literally always delivering something incredible. It’s so hard to keep up sometimes but you gotta love them for it! They just released their Serendipity EP on iTunes and they will be throwing a few EP release parties in select cities to be announced soon. For all up to the minute updates, follow them on Twitter.

4. Two Door Cinema Club

Two Door Cinema Club just released their sophomore album, Beacon, and it is everything I look for in a fall album. Chilling synth and beautiful melody.

5. California Wives

You might remember me talking about California Wives after the VMAs. I discovered them from the Sharpie commercial. If you’re into the whole 80’s synth/90’s rock ambiance, then check these guys out because they are incredible! They just released their debut album, Art History, on iTunes. Go here for a free download of their song “Marianne.”

6. The Chevin

I discovered The Chevin while waking up from a late night nap on my couch. Yes, I realize that makes me sound like a bum. I woke up and saw these guys playing on The Late Show with David Letterman and I was intrigued. They sort of have a U2 meets indie rock vibe. Check out their album, Borderland, on September 25th.

7. Hunting Grounds

Hunting Grounds are a new band I just discovered on Spotify. I’m obsessed with their song “Star Shards.” Check out their album, In Hindsight, on iTunes.

8. Niki & The Dove

Niki & The Dove just released their debut album, Instinct, and it is filled with electro/tribal/synth goodness. Click here for a free download of their song “The Fox.”
