BUZZNET Exclusive: Boys Like Girls On Their ‘Crazy World’

Boys Like Girls are gearing up to take back the pop/rock music scene! With the release of their EP Crazy World days away (July 17), we wanted to know what the boys have been keeping under their hats for the past few years and what is different about this album verses past releases.

Guitarist Paul DiGiovanni explains, “The new album is a big evolution of the band. The whole recording process and our attitudes are so different at this point in time. We grew up a lot in our year off and this album shows it.”

Take a look at what else Paul shared with us about the new record and how much they appreciate their “diehard fans”.

What are your plans for the summer?

For the summer we are going to be playing radio shows, doing a music video, a ton of promotion for our new record, and hopping over to Southeast Asia for a quick little trip.

What about the new album will be different from your previous albums?

The new album is a big evolution of the band. The whole recording process (see below) and our attitudes are so different at this point in time. We grew up a lot in our year off and this album shows it. It is so much more versatile that our last two records, really has something for everyone. When I play the record for my friends I can see they connect to certain parts while my dad and his friends had other elements that they could really feel as engage in. I can’t say that our last two records had that.

How has the recording process changed for you over the past few years?

A lot of the record was written in Nashville, and we recorded the majority at Martin’s house. Also Martin produced the entire thing. So all of those aspects right there are completely different from self-titled and Love Drunk.

Why did you title the new album ‘Crazy World’? “Crazy World” is a song on the record that talks about how insane the world has gotten with technology and cell phones and twitter and Facebook and all of that. And it’s sort of making a statement, saying let’s just shut it all of this shit off and hang out in person, actually connect, like the old days. It felt like a good theme for the entire record.

What do you attribute to your fans continued enthusiasm for the past two years while you were away?

We post pictures, tweet, make video updates, everything we can do online… and also hang with kids before the show/sign for everyone after each show. It’s what keeps up going, and keeps everyone excited!
