Martini’s & Manicures/Women’s Resources Event
So those of you who know, about 10 years ago my sisters, my mom and I were homeless for about 2 weeks, then finally we got into a shelter for battered and abused women and stayed there for a month. Women Resources was the shelter that we stayed at for a month! I can’t believe it has been 10 years since that time.
So many things had happened in my life, and being in this shelter was like a stepping stone to get out of there and make our lives better. Meg is graduating with a doctorate, Jill wants to study abroad, and I am just me! Working hard to achieve my dreams. You can’t change what happened in the past, you can only make actions to change your future.
I was excited to go to this event to raise money and awareness for this women’s shelter. The even was hosted at Desaki, which is a great sushi joint in the Poconos. There was awesome sushi, yummy martini’s. You could also get your nails done for $20, and all the proceeds go to Women’s Resources. I was actually REALLY surprised with how many people showed up. There support is so amazing and I was happy to go and support something that was a stepping stone in my life.
There is always help out there if you need it. Check out Women’s Resource’s Website.
