Jennifer Lawrence Speaks Out Against Fat Comments

Although Jennifer Lawrence has been acting long before, to many she IS Katniss Everdeen in the widely popular film The Hunger Games. But some film critics have had some “weighty” issues about Jen‘s portrayal of Katniss! The Hollywood Reporter‘s Todd McCarthy said that Jen had “lingering baby fat” while Jeffrey Wells called her a “big-boned woman,” causing quite some backlash from very loyal fans of Jennifer’s. Surprisingly, only one of the critics was a woman: The New York TimesManohla Dargis who argued that “a few years ago Ms. Lawrence might have looked hungry enough to play Katniss, but now, at 21, her seductive, womanly figure makes a bad fit for a dystopian fantasy about a people starved into submission.”

So what did Jennifer have to say?

A source close to the star told the Chicago Sun Times newspaper: “Jennifer told me, ‘This is hilarious. First, people say how so many actresses in Hollywood look anorexic, and now they are criticizing me for looking normal.’”

“Thin body images are too often adopted by young girls and women thanks to what they are constantly being shown as being attractive.”

What do you think of the critics essentially calling Jennifer Lawrence “too fat” to play Katniss? What would you have said if you were Jennifer?
