Futures Launch Own Label After Shocking Mercury Records Exit

Earlier in the week, Futures made the shocking announcement that they had broken away from their major label signing at Mercury Records after album release delays. Today, the promising British indie-rock band have surprised fans even further by revealing that they will be releasing their long awaited debut full length in June 2012 via Indigo Recordings – a label formed by the band themselves.

In a blog post, the band also unveiled the label’s logo and their plans to make “a documentary on how it’s possible to take your own music into your own hands and do anything you possibly want with it”.

For most bands, the decision to leave Mercury Records and fly solo may seem daunting (if not crazy) but Futures appear to be unphased with lead singer Ant West telling Rock Sound “One thing I’ve learned about having a major record deal is that you don’t need one. For us, that is, we know it works for others, but not for us.”

You can listen to “Swim Teams” below – a song that the band have dedicated to their fans.
