Amanda Seyfried and Taylor Swift to Star in ‘Les Miserables?’

It’s possible that Amanda Seyfried and Taylor Swift will soon be able to hear the people sing. Singing the songs of angry men. It is the music of a people who will not be slaves again.

By which I mean, the two have reportedly been offered roles in the upcoming film adaptation of the musical Les Miserables. The cast already has such huge names as Hugh Jackman (Jean Val Jean), Russell Crowe (Javert), Sacha Baron Cohen (Thernardier), Helena Bonham Carter (Madame Thernardier) and Anne Hathaway (Fantine).

But who would they be playing? Well, Seyfried has apparently been offered the role of Cosette, a young orphan who finds love during the turbulent French Revolution.

As for Swift, she’d be taking on the role of Eponine, who struggles with unrequited love for a handsome young revolutionary…who happens to be in love with Cosette.

As a fan of the show, I’m eager to see Seyfried in the cast, but unsure about Swift’s acting chops. Then again, Swift’s playing the girl in love with a guy who’s with another girl, and it’s not as if that’s territory she’s unfamiliar with. I mean, in this case she doesn’t wear T-shirts while Cosette wears short skirts, but you get the idea. And I say this all as someone who really loves Eponine.

What do you guys think of these casting possibilities?
