Karlie Kloss Looks ‘Anorexic’ In Controversial Vogue Italia Photoshoot?

19-year-old model Karlie Kloss posed fully nude for the latest issue of Vogue Italia, generating controversy over her extremely thin body. The editorial, “Body By Kloss,” was photographed in black and white by Steven Meisel and though all the photos garnered criticism, the image in most question features Karlie in a contorted position, her waist twisted to the side. Though she is wearing a jacket and shorts, people have called her body “anorexic” and “creepy” looking. In response to the criticism, Vogue Italia has removed the image from their website.

Personally, I don’t think Karlie looks anorexic. Like most models, she has always been naturally thin, even from the start of her modeling career at age 15. I think the odd effect in the above photograph is created by her long waist, the angle, and some inevitable photoshopping. I don’t think it’s fair for people to be jumping to the conclusion that she is anorexic. Other photographs from the editorial show Karlie completely naked, and she looks healthy. As I said before, most models are scouted because they are naturally tall and thin–just because they are in the top 5 percentile in terms of weight does not mean they are anorexic. (Obviously, I am not denying the fact that the fashion industry promotes a thin figure.) Caution: the followng photo is NSFW.

Do you think people are right in criticizing Karlie’s body?
