Controversial Fashion Campaigns YAY or NAY?

As a fashion designer, something crucial to each collection I create is my campaign photos. Those are the images that represent my line as a designer and the image I put on my website and advertisements. Those are the photos everyone is going to see, so it is important that they make an impact. They should always be eye catching, bold statements that tell a story about yourself as an artist. In my opinion some designers go a little overboard… I feel that big name designers that have huge billboards and magazine adds should take into consideration that the audience viewing the photos might be younger. We see magazines sitting in nail salons, doctors offices, and in so many public places and can easily be picked up by young viewers and give them the wrong message. It is also uncomfortable to drive down hollywood blvd with a young child and see scandalous adds plastered on buildings.

However I also think it is important to have freedom of expression and I feel as an artist that I would not want my images to be banned or blocked. Do you think some designers create those adds to stir up controversy and get hype going? Do you think these types of adds should be public and visible for all ages to see?

My opinion is that these controversial adds are promoting negative things, and I would not be okay with having a this photos in public places as campaign photos. What do you think?
