Buzznet Exclusive: Cymphonique Miller Talks Popcorn, Rocking With MJ and Why Mac ‘n Cheese Embarrasses Her

She’s the daughter of music mogul Percy Miller (better known as Master P) and the sister of rapper/actor/Dancing With the Stars alum Romeo Miller, but Cymphonique Miller is well on her way to making a name for herself! As the star of the brand-new Nickelodeon show How to Rock, Cymphonique unleashes her inner teenage sensation playing Kacey Simon, the lead singer of a pop/hip hop band, honing her acting and singing talent.

Buzznet caught up with Cymphonique on the set of her new show How to Rock where she dished about her popcorn obsession, what she wants to do with Michael Jackson if he were still alive, and explains why macaroni and cheese embarrasses her!

Buzznet: Tell us about your character on the show. How do you compare to your character?

Cymphonique Miller: My character on the show is Kasey Simon. She is a really strong, passionate girl, she loves to sing, she’s really outgoing. Sometimes, she can get a bit crazy and get herself into situations but at the end of the day, she always just loves her friends and wants to do what’s right. And I feel like she’s learning everyday, like we all are, which you will see in the episodes. I think I’m like my character in that we both love to sing.

BN: If you could “rock” with any musician for one day, who would it be?

CM: I would have to say Michael Jackson. If he were still alive, I would totally rock with him. He was one of my favorites. And I love Mariah Carey.

BN: What’s it like working with the cast?

CM: The cast is amazing! I can’t even believe that I’m blessed to be with such a talented, professional, big-hearted people. They keep the days fun, which I love, so work is not really work – it’s play. I keep telling everyone about Chris; he has these shirts with animals that wear glasses. He has an obsession with shirts that have animals with glasses. He has an elephant that wears glasses, he has a bulldog that wears glasses, and the list goes on and on. It’s so funny. Max, he always ends his sentences with ‘baby’ to everyone – guy, girl… and he always has his ukelele.

BN: What’s your favorite craft service treat?

CM: Miss Kathy, our craft service lady, keeps it fresh. Sometimes she has too many goodies! She has cinnamon rolls, she has donuts – which I gotta stay away from each morning when I come here because she likes to have tons of donuts. But I would have to say my favorite treat is the popcorn. I think it’s official that everyone on set is obsessed with popcorn.

BN: Who is the biggest prankster on the set?

CM: I would have to say that would have to be between David our executive producer and Noah. It’s so funny because they have this thing where they’re pretend enemies and they play little pranks on each other all the time. I remember there was this scene where we had to take off our shoes and of course all of a sudden someone only has one shoe and who could that be? Noah. Who’s hiding it? David. We like to play a lot of pranks in that way.

BN: What’s been your most embarrassing moment on the set so far?

CM: I’ve gotten macaroni and cheese dumped on me on the set before, so I’ve had to walk around smelling like macaroni and cheese. Another embarrassing moment on the set, I remember, they were like, “Okay Cymphonique, go on set” and we have two stages on our set – we have stage 25 and stage 26. I thought we had to be on stage 26, so I go on stage 26 and everybody acts like I’m supposed to be there. They’re like, “Oh hey! What’s up?” and I was actually doing a stunt where I had to fly up in the air, so the stunt girl was there. So I thought this must be the place where I’m supposed to be. Twenty minutes later, all the people on stage 25 are like, “Cymphonique, where have you been?! We’ve been looking for you. We thought you were lost!” That was pretty embarrassing.

BN: When you’re not filming, what do you like to do in your downtime?

CM: In my downtime I love to swim in the summer, I love going to the beach with my family. I love playing with my dog Honey, I love rollerskating, and I also love to write. Language arts is one of my favorite subjects in school.

BN: The holidays are coming up. Have you been naughty or nice this year?

CM: I would consider myself nice. I’ve been pretty good! You can check with my parents.

BN: What’s on your Christmas wish list this year?

CM: On my Christmas list, I think I want a Dance Central for my xBox.

BN: What’s your 2012 New Year’s resolution?

CM: Keeping up with my daily runs.
