Things Advice Dog Wouldn’t Say & A Letter From Seth Green

Does anyone remember the theme song from The Facts of Life? Probably not. Anyway, there is a line in it that goes “You take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and there you have The Facts of Life.”

Today, I am bringing you one bad story and one good story. Feel free to give us your advice in the comments!

Things not even Advice Dog would say –

There are a few things wrong with the above statement. As a fellow gay myself, I do not “act” a certain way. I see this all the time and it really grinds my gears. A lot (not all) exlude other people in the very predicament they are in because they “act” a certain way. It really is one of the more sad aspects of how gay men divide themselves. I am me and whether you want to lable that “gay” or whatever, that’s your deal. I am not going to walk around acting like anything other than who I am. Clearly, you have a lot more issues than I do if how you perceive me makes you uncomfortable.

The other thing wrong with this is that IT IS COMING FROM TEACHERS. I mean really now. People that are supposed to know better and guide young people towards their potential are telling youths that are already in confusing places this kind of drivel.

Sometimes, life at home really isn’t the best. A lot of kids look to their teachers for guidance and support. What a shameful thing to tell a person. It’s this kind of attitude that makes people not want to be themselves. It keeps people from being comfortable in their own skin.

The only way to change this kind of attitude is by accepting people for who they are, no matter what and giving them the tools they need to do so.

If you had a friend that was LGBTQ etc (there are a lot of catergories. I don’t want to miss anyone so I’M SORRY IN ADVANCE), what would you tell them?

Seth Green’s Letter to His Younger Self:

From the article in the above link: For its new book, “Dear Me,” Atria Books asked celebrities to write a letter to their 16-year-old selves. The book includes reproductions of actual letters and personal photos.

Seth’s letter to his self is kind of funny and sweet. It made me think about all the stuff that I would tell myself as a wee lad, so I am going to do it.

Hey RichiePoo

Well, this is weird. I am not sure how this letter from the future found but I heard that it would, so I am writing to you because I want you to know that you are a special snowflake. I know that right now you are all about cats and dying alone and that’s okay, because it’s all going to come true and it’s going to be awesome. It’s not as sad as it sounds. In fact, it makes your life awesome because you will know how to do lots of things on your own and go on your very own adventures without anyone’s help or permission.

Your life will make strong, and creative, and strange, and not boring (well sometimes you will be boring) but you life will be full of fun stuff, so just keep doing what you’re doing.

Also, don’t go to prom because your dad isn’t going to pay back and there will go your art classes and then your life gets really weird. Let’s change that. Also, there will be this thing called “Buzznet” in like, 2005 so make sure you go there and be weird all the time. You’ll have a good time, promise.

Anyway, don’t get all sad about who you are and don’t be ashamed, because you are the only there is. You have awesome friends and they love and your family will be there for you when you need them most. Life is an adventure, so make sure that you take every opportunity to enjoy it, put your own spin on it, and laugh loudly at your own jokes.

Stay away from the deli tray.

That’s all! Party on!

R

What would you tell the younger you? Try not to give away too many spoilers, Sweetie.
