Muppet Mondays: 5 Fantastic Guest Musical Numbers

With their return to the big screen on November 23rd, everyone’s talking Muppets. And while they’ve done multiple films and appeared on TV for years, my favorite will probably always be the original Muppet Show from the 70’s and early 80’s.

Think about it: you had huge celebrities willing to go on a show starring puppets and guest act and/or perform. How frigging awesome is that?

What kind of celebrities? Well, take a look at five of my favorite celebrity musical performances from The Muppet Show.

Liza Minelli – “Copacabana”

Johnny Cash – “Jackson” ft. Miss Piggy

Gladys Knight – “Heard It Through the Grapevine”

Alice Cooper – “Welcome to my Nightmare”

(Seriously, ALICE COOPER was on The Muppet Show. How is that not awesome?)

Elton John – “Crocodile Rock”

(Look familiar? Cee-Lo paid homage to this performance at the Grammys when he sang “F…orget You.”)

Like most of my lists, these are just my favorites. Any of you muppet lovers have favorite musical guests? NOT celebrity appearances in general, that’s a completely different list!
