J.K. Rowling Reveals: ‘I Did Seriously Consider Killing Ron’

With the Harry Potter series ending after the movie’s last installment this past July, fans were sincerely upset at the fact that it was all over. And while fans got a glimpse of hope in Pottermore, there is some news that may have made the conclusion of the beloved series even more tragic and devastating! In a special feature on the upcoming Blu-ray/DVD release (available on November 11) of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, author J.K. Rowling reveals to interviewer and Mr. Harry Potter himself Daniel Radcliffe that Ron Weasley (played by Rupert Grint) would have met his demise had she gone with an awful thought of hers, reports The Guardian.

“Funnily enough, I planned from the start that none of them would die. Then midway through, which I think is a reflection of the fact that I wasn’t in a very happy place, I started thinking I might polish one of them off. Out of sheer spite. ‘There, now you definitely can’t have him any more.’ But I think in my absolute heart of heart of hearts, although I did seriously consider killing Ron, [I wouldn’t have done it],” she told Daniel and who was “convinced one of the main three had to buy it”.

Luckily for Hermione (played by Emma Watson) and the fans, J.K. had a change of heart and decided to let Ron stick around.

“It’s a real relief to be able to talk about it all,” she added.

We’re glad you decided to keep Ron around, J.K.!
