How Will Lady Gaga Top Herself as Opener of the 2011 VMAs?

Lady Gaga kept all in suspense when she tweeted this the other day: “Going on MTV right now! 7:49pm. Gonna make an announcement. Watch it live and see rest of interview with Sway www.mtv.com”

Big announcement? It’s Lady Gaga, so that could mean just about anything!

Luckily we didn’t have to wait too long to hear the news: on Thursday night, Gaga, joined by a sea of her fans (called the “Little Monsters”) announced she would be opening the MTV VMAs this year, reports MTV. In the middle of the always-busy Times Square in New York City, the Little Monsters unveiled a banner that read: “GAGA TO OPEN VMAs!!!”

“It means the world to me,” Gaga said of opening the 2011 VMAs. “I just feel really blessed every day. I have the most amazing fans.”

Gaga is up for four VMAs, including Best Female Video and Best Video With a Message for the song “Born This Way,” as well as Best Art Direction and Best Choreography for her track “Judas.”

The question is: How will Lady Gaga top herself as the opener? Guess we’ll just have to wait and see!
