Amy Winehouse Was Drug Free at the Time of Her Death

The family of Amy Winehouse is saying that according to toxicology reports, the singer did not have drugs in her system at the time of her death. The reports have not been released, but say that there was an unspecified amount of alcohol present in her system.

The “Rehab” singer, who died at 27 years-old, was supposedly trying to kick her habits, telling her father, “‘Dad I’ve had enough of drinking, I can’t stand the look on your and the family’s faces anymore.'”

Her father has spoken of Amy having health issues other than her addictions, saying that she had emphysema and an irregular heartbeat. Though there was alcohol in her system when she died, no one knows if she died because of withdrawals or an overdose.

The last song she ever recorded was a duet of “Body and Soul” with Tony Bennett, which is set to be released next month and sold for charity. Video footage of her and Bennett recording the single is set to appear as a tribute to Winehouse at this weekend’s VMAs.

It would be so sad if she died while trying to overcome her struggles. How do you think they should commemorate the singer at the VMAs?
