Hear Cee Lo Green Cover Buddy Holly’s ‘Baby I Don’t Care’

Had Buddy Holly not had his life taken in a plane crash in 1959, he would have been 75. But, sadly, that was the fate of the “That’ll Be The Day” singer. Fortunately his music lives on – and this time it takes form in an upcoming compilation titled Rave On Buddy Holly, which comes out June 28th.

The Buddy Holly tribute features various Buddy Holly songs covered from the likes of The Voice coach Cee Lo Green (“You’re So Square [Baby I Don’t Care]”), former Beatle Paul McCartney (“It’s So Easy”), Florence and the Machine (“Not Fade Away”), Fiona Apple (“Everyday”) and Kid Rock (“Well All Right”).

Our friends at Idolator premiered Cee Lo’s cover of “Baby I Don’t Care,” where he gives a “raucous, rockabilly” spin on the song – a feat previously undone by Cee Lo!

Fun fact: Buddy Holly’s version of “You’re So Square (Baby I Don’t Care)” was also a cover. The King of Rock ‘N Roll Elvis Presley originally recorded the track in 1957 for his Jailhouse Rock EP. Buddy Holly’s version was on his self-titled album the following year.
