HOW TO GET FEATURED ON BUZZNET!

Buzznet is the web’s largest social magazine where the content is created by the members for the members. Over 2,000,000 people visit Buzznet each month. That’s larger than the circulations of Spin and Vogue Magazines!

Anyone can create content on Buzznet and share it with others. In fact, we highly encourage it. So, if you’d like to get your content featured on our homepage, here are some tips:

First and foremost, we want to hear your voice! Sometimes it can take awhile to find “your” voice when you’re writing, so try out different stuff. But the first rule of this? Be yourself! Trust us, you are so much cooler than any fake persona you could lay on us. We want to get to know you.

So don’t just post a blog full of pictures and slap an “OMG SO COOL!” on it. Talk about what you like (or don’t like) about the pictures. Talk about your feelings. We know you’re full of them, and that is very awesome. Make us debate, make us converse, make us social. This is, after all, an SOCIAL magazine. Being social is what we do! We LIKE it!

TITLE: Make your title BANG!

Make your title clear by using the key words that describe what your post is about. Including the name of the celebrity, band, designer, TV show, artist, writer, movie or book you’re talking about will draw people in.

Note: Funny titles tend to get more views. (Puns encouraged)!

CONTENT: Be first, be YOU!

If you’re first to cover a hot topic or breaking news then you are more likely to be given pride of place on the homepage. Timely, original, interesting, relevant and/or funny. Funny is always good.

We enjoy music, pop culture, fashion, TV, comedy, movies, geek life and gadgets, celebrities and cats in cute outfits. We love it when you put your own spin on topics, and bonus points if you can relate it to current events, a social movement, psychology or lit-trit-chure. Once again: show us what you know, like and care about.

We don’t expect you to be perfect, but running your post through a spell checker is a good idea. And we know English grammar is really, REALLY weird, but please try to observe the basics. Capitalization, basic punctuation and paragraph breaks are your friends. If your post gets featured our editors can help you with it.

LAYOUT: Dress it up!

Photos and videos will make your post more engaging than just using words alone. They create context and make your content look great, so use them wherever you can!

You can also ask photographers on Buzznet if you can use some of their shots in your articles. They might not always say “yes,” but it’s worth asking!

A note on thumbnails: we like it when you use them. We don’t like it when you don’t. The end.

Oh, and btw, if you get featured, the text in your post will be changed to black with red hyperlinks like the rest of our site.

CREDITING SOURCES: Do it!

It’s great to reference other peoples stuff but:

•CITE YOUR SOURCES whenever possible. Link them too. Use quotation marks or the “quote” function on the blog editor if you use somebody’s exact words. And try to minimize how much of someone else’s stuff you use. Like we’ve said over and over again, we want to hear YOUR voice.

EDITORIAL INPUT: The small touches!

If your post does get featured, it’s subject to basic editorial finishing. This is a fancy way of saying the Buzznet Editorial team may punch up a title that will help more people see your post. We might capitalize something or add in a period here and there. If you are NOT okay with any editorial changes, please feel free to contact our friendly site admins at support@buzz-media.com

SHARE YOUR STUFF: Promote it!

One great way to show us your content is feature-worthy, is if we see other folks are really digging it. So don’t be shy, share your content by:

•Tweeting it, posting it to Facebook, Tumblr or sharing via other means. Don’t forget to use all those social tools at the bottom of your post!

•Encourage others to comment or buzz. Conversations make the world go round. Promote your content to your friends on Buzznet, but be courteous – spamming people and groups with your content can end up being counter-productive. If you’re not getting billions of hits immediately, take a deep breath and remind yourself that Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither is featured blogger status.

If you still have questions, you can always contact support@buzz-media.com and ask away.

Now go forth and get featured fair Buzznetters!
