We have SO many talented fashion designers doing creative and amazing things, and this week we want to highlight some of them and their work through interviews and photos. Here are our Buzznet Designers to Watch…
Jena Kane of Spoken Heart Couture describes her brand as “Fun, love and rock and roll”. The statement couldn’t be more true when it comes to Spoken Heart as well as Jena herself. Jena’s line ranges from simply sexy to hard rock, so Spoken Heart is sure to having something perfect for you!
BUZZNET: Describe your own personal style in 10 words or less.
Jena Kane:Comfortably sexy, city girl meets modern hippie.
BN: What are some of your fashion must haves? What is something you can’t live without?
JK: Black eyeliner & my favorite denim piece.
BN: Who are your favorite fashion icons?
JK: Kate Moss, Sienna Miller, the Olsens. I love bohemian elements mixed with more modern pieces- messy mixed with neat. I also love Leighton Meester & Blake Lively for their fashion forward, young & fresh styles. And my favorite designers are those who are extremely creative with graphic elements & colors- such as Jeremy Scott and Ashish. When clothes become art, and vice versa.
BN: Describe your clothing line in 10 words or less. JK: Fun, Love & Rock ‘n’ Roll.
BN: Where do you find your inspiration?
JK: Music, (I’m a huge classic rock fan), the city I live in, New York, & my immature sense of creativity- I try to channel my inner ‘little kid’, because I have been drawing since I was able to hold a crayon. I believe that people should never give up thier ‘little kid’ mentality & creativity. It really is liberating.
BN: Tell us about your all-time favorite piece you have created and why it’s your absolute favorite.
JK: When it comes to designing for my line, Spoken Heart, it is SO hard to pick a favorite, because the whole line is like my baby. But if I had to, it would currently be our ‘Lovestruck’ cut-off tank, because so many processes went into it, and it’s the first time we have ever tried to achieve an ombre affect with dyes. I can’t wait till it gets warmer out so I can wear it more often!
BN: What are your plans for the future? Upcoming projects? Collaborations?
JK: Right now we are just finishing up with new summer items- new washes, dyes, cuts and printing methods. It has been so much fun experimenting with fresh techniques. Now we are just in the process of shooting the line & putting it up on the site!
BN: Where can we find (and buy!) your work?
JK: You can shop Spoken Heart Couture @ www.shcouture.com
