MTV Says ‘I Do’ to New Series ‘Married Young’
On the heels of their breakout shows centered around teen pregnancy such as Teen Mom and 16 and Pregnant, MTV’s next focus will be on the reality of marriage – young marriage, that is.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, MTV has ordered a pilot for a series called Married Young, an hourlong docuseries chronicling the lives of couples in their first year of marriage. Married Young, which is the tentative working title, will spotlight young couples as the novelty of the honeymoon stage of marriage wears off and they are faced with newfound responsibilities and the common struggles of newlyweds.
If the project is greenlit, it will follow in the footsteps of 16 and Pregnant and its spinoffs Teen Mom and Teen Mom 2, but will take on a more serious tone.
