Lenny Kravitz Joins The Hunger Games Cast In Stylish Role
Rocker Lenny Kravitz will be able to flaunt his acting chops as well as his fashionable ways in the highly anticipated upcoming The Hunger Games movie, reports the Hollywood Reporter.
Lenny landed a role in the film and will be playing Cinna, a fashion stylist who designs some outrageous costumes for Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) to wear during her participation in the Hunger Games. Cinna develops a close friendship with Katniss and his costumes help shape her character.
Gary Ross, the director of the film, believes that Lenny has the chops to fill Cinna’s shiny shoes.
“When I saw Lenny’s work in Precious, I was just knocked out,” Gary said. “It was quiet and strong and understated and open-hearted: all qualities which define this character.”
Lenny joins the half all-star, half-relatively unknown cast in the screen adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ best-selling books, including Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks, Woody Harrelson, and Stanley Tucci.
The Hunger Games releases March 23, 2012 via Lionsgate.
