Introducing: Madeon

Even though I openly admit my obsession with pop-punk and post-hardcore, I’m a huge fan of electronic music. I’m always looking for new music to feature on my EDM-focused radio show, but wading through music blogs leaves me with a lot of over-hyped remixes and sold-out tracks.

Enter: Madeon.

The French 16-year old took the internet by storm with his remix of Pendulum’s “The Island” last year, and resurfaced in the blogosphere today when The Daily What featured a fan-made music video of a kid dancing to Madeon’s remix of Yelle’s “Que Veux Tu”.

His sound is distinct, but a classic French electro influence (think Justice) shines through. And his technical skill and care to detail is unbelieveble for a 16-year old (SIXTEEN YEAR OLD). While the rest of the industry right now is so focused on capitalizing on the rise of dubstep, Madeon’s straight forward electro-pop-y, fidget-house-y EDM is refreshing.

By the sounds of it, Madeon has a promising career ahead of him, and I’m excited to see how his style develops. Keep an eye on this one!
