Natalie Portman ‘Disgusted’ By Dior Designer

A day following her Best Actress Oscar win, Natalie Portman had to put out another speech: this time in the form of a statement regarding Dior creative director John Galliano’s arrest.

Galliano allegedly spewed anti-Semitic remarks at a couple while he was out drinking in Paris last week. No charges were filed against the designer, but it definitely has Hollywood and the fashion biz steaming.

“I am deeply shocked and disgusted by the video of John Galliano’s comments that surfaced today,” Portman said in a statement. “In light of this video, and as an individual who is proud to be Jewish, I will not be associated with Mr. Galliano in any way.”

Yikes! Wonder what that means, as Natalie currently has an endorsement deal with Dior for its Miss Dior Cherie fragrance.

Natalie was reportedly to wear a Dior gown at Sunday’s Academy Awards, but at the last minute changed her mind after news of Galliano’s offensive outburst broke, opting for Rodarte (who’d designed the costumes for Black Swan) instead.

“I hope at the very least, these terrible comments remind us to reflect and act upon combating these still-existing prejudices that are the opposite of all that is beautiful,” Portman continued.

Galliano was caught on video by the U.K.’s Sun newspaper, hurling shocking insults toward bar patrons, including comments such as “I love Hitler,” as seen in the video. He continued with “People like you would be dead today. Your mothers, your forefathers would be f***ing gassed.”

Galliano has since been suspended from fashion powerhouse Dior and they’ve begun the process to fire him.

Do you think Dior did the right thing by suspending and firing John from the company?
