Joseph Gordon-Levitt CONFIRMED for ‘The Dark Knight Rises,’ But Who Is He Playing?

It’s been a big week for news regarding DC comics-based projects. Not only did we get our first glimpse of the costume from the upcoming Wonder Woman television series (which, boo, sad to see it’s apparently the redesigned costume from Wonder Woman #600 and not her classic gear) but we now have confirmation of another name added to Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who starred in Nolan’s hit Inception, has officially signed on to play a villain in the next Batman film.

Levitt will be playing a villain known as “The Holiday Killer,” real name Alberto Falcone. The character was a key player in the Batman Long Halloween limited series, published in 1996. As his name hints at, his trademark is to kill his victims on a holiday.

JGL joins Tom Hardy (another Inception alum), who will be playing Bane, as a confirmed villain. While we know Anne Hathaway will be playing Selina Kyle, there is hinting that she will not necessarily put on the Catwoman claws until later in the film or a potential sequel.

What do you guys think? I think JGL worked great with Nolan in Inception and I am really looking forward to seeing him in this. I’m also stoked that Nolan is putting another little known villain in the film, like he did with Ra’s Al Ghul in Batman Begins. It sets my little fangirl heart all a-twitter.
