Katy Perry: Not Feuding with Britney Spears, Now Feuding with the Media

For the record, when Katy Perry tweeted her thoughts about product placement in music videos she was NOT trying to start anything with Britney Spears. She was ABSOLUTELY not doing that and if you say she is, you’re filth.

Ah, if only pop princess feuds these days were as simple as Britney versus Christina.

To get you caught up: last week, Katy Perry replied to Marina of Marina and the Diamonds on Twitter, answering a question her tourmate asked about product placement in music videos. Katy’s response:

do it w/style & grace…Not so in ur face like some. U hv to get creative w/it. Some artists don’t care tho, & u can tell.

Considering this was the day after Britney Spears released her anticipated video for “Hold It Against Me,” which contains obvious product placement, many people thought this was a dig against Spears.

Well, Katy wants the world to know it was ABSOLUTELY NOT.

Dear tabloid media aka FILTH: pls note I expressed an overall feeling bout product placement, their roles in vids & the art of them being complimenting or sticking out. Most, if not ALL popsters welcome deals w/products 2 offset costs of big budget vids in these recessional music industry times. I’VE used them in MY vids before & am happy 2b able 2 make a better vid because of. Once AGAIN, stop pitting artists against artist for ur sensational satisfaction & stick to what ur best @: lying, gossiping, exaggerating & overall lending a hand 2 the deterioration of a generation.

GUUUUUUUURRLL!

Look, Katy, I get your point and yeah, the tabloid media can be awful about trying to create feuds that aren’t there. I won’t deny that for a second. But, you know, what you originally said, especially the stuff about how artists who don’t do product placement the way you do it obviously don’t care? Well…do you maybe see how that was KIND of inflammatory and could be taken as a shot at Britney?

No?

Okay, nevermind then. Carry on.
