Sell me your Harry Potter fanfiction

And I don’t necessarily mean it has to be written by you.

I have a project in mind. I am not going to tell you when it debuts. It won’t be that long away, but it won’t be tomorrow. It involves fanfiction.

I always read the comments. (Really.) And I notice how much Harry Potter fanfiction comes up in our discussions. And look, I have no justification for having any sort of aversion to fanfiction anymore since I basically have written countless pieces that fit the exact definition of fanfic.

But there’s always talk of the “good” ones. (And by “good,” some of you clearly mean, “so bad it actually loops back and becomes good.”)

Truth is, I don’t have much interest in actually reading thousands of Harry Potter fanfiction entires, so I’d like you to do it all for me. Sort of.

Here’s the deal: Find the “best” Harry Potter fanfic you think I should review. (For the record, the “worse” it is, the better time I’ll have reading it.)

Tell me the title. Link to it. Notify me if it has spoilers and, if so, please let me know after what book is it safe to read it.

Then: Sell me on your chosen fanfiction.

You have one paragraph, five sentences max, to sell me on why I should review that specific fanfiction. No more that that.

Again, I am not going to tell you exactly how I’ll review the best ones submitted, but I thought I’d make a little game out of this to make it kind of competitive. You’ll definitely be recognized if I choose the fanfic you submitted as well!

Today and tonight, I’ll be working on a piece for tomorrow that contains my larger thoughts on Goblet of Fire and, by much request, my predictions for the upcoming books. I know you had to wait three years (!!!!!!!!!!) if you were reading the books in real time for Order of the Phoenix to come out; I am not going to attempt to replicate that experience at all, as I start the fifth book next week.

However, I do remember watching LOST and theorizing like crazy about what things would be addressed in the upcoming series and what everything meant. So, I’m going to do that. Because it’s fun and I will mostly likely embarrass myself by predicting the dumbest shit and generally being wrong about absolutely everything.

Sounds like fun? OH, IT WILL BE.

So yeah. New post tomorrow as well, and something special for Saturday, in anticipation of Sunday’s LIVEBLOG EXTRAVANGANZA!

Thanks guys!
