Kerrang! Magazine Awards July 2010

The Kerrang! Magazine awards took place this evening in a top secret location in dear ol’ London. I’ve been watching my Twitter all evening since the awards began to get the scoop on the who the lucky winners were.

SO, here we are, I’ve decided to inform you guys who may not have heard!

The first award was Best British Newcomer, won by Rise to Remain. Rise to Remain won over nominees Deaf Havana, General Fiasco, Out of Sight and Throats. The 5-piece metal band’s album Bridges will Burn is out now.

Secondly, the Best International Newcomer award was awarded to Trash Talk. The band were up against Dommin, Framing Hanley, Halestorm and The Swellers. You can buy Trash Talk’s 3rd studio album Eyes and Nines now.

The Best Single presented by Red Stripe was won by You Me at Six with their single Liquid Conference. The band came first, beating fellow nominees Avenged Sevenfold – Nightmare, The Blackout – Save Ourselves (The Warning), Four Year Strong – Wasting Time (Eternal Summer), and Slipknot – Snuff. You Me at Six’s 2nd album Hold Me Down is available to download or buy in your local music store now.

The award for Best Video was presented by Young Minds was awarded to Biffy Clyro for their video of The Captain. The band beat 30 Seconds To Mars – Kings And Queens, Cancer Bats – Sabotage, Lostprophets – It’s Not The End Of The World (But I Can See It From Here), and Paramore – Brick By Boring Brick. The Captain can be found on Biffy Clyro’s 5th album Only Revolutions.

Best Album was awarded to Paramore for Brand New Eyes. The band beat 30 Seconds To Mars, Biffy Clyro, Bullet For My Valentine and You Me At Six – Hold Me Down, with their mind-blowing 3rd studio album, which is out now.

Bullet for my Valentine were voted Best Live band. The heavy metal clan were voted 1st by Kerrang! readers out of 30 Seconds To Mars, Green Day, Paramore, and Skindred. Which is something they should really be proud of. The guys beat Green Day for the best live band!

The 7th award of the night was Best International Band which was won by 30 Seconds to Mars (oh god YAY). The incredibly talented trio were voted first amoungst nominees Avenged Sevenfold, Green Day, Metallica, and Paramore. The band’s 3rd album This is War is available for download now.

Bullet for my Valentine stole another award tonight, winning the award for Best British Band. The heavy metal band from Bridgend were up against Enter Shikari, The King Blues, Lostprophets, and You Me At Six, but were voted 1st by their loyal fans.

There were also several special awards given out on the night.

‘The No Half Measures Award’, presented by Relentless Energy Drink was awarded to the amazing Frank Turner, a folk/punk artist from Winchester.

The Classic Songwriter Award went to Lostprophets.

The Kerrang! Inspiration Award, presented by HMV, went to the German rockers, Rammstein.

The Kerrang! Services To Metal Award was rightly awarded to the late Paul Gray of Slipknot. (another YAY)

The Kerrang! Icon Award, presented by Orange Amplification went to the late Ronnie James Dio.

And finally, Motley Crue got The Kerrang! Hall Of Fame Award, and have earned themselves a place in… well, the Kerrang! Hall Of Fame.
