Explaining the Video: Stone Sour ‘Say You’ll Haunt Me’

Wait, wait, what is this? Is it…is that the BATMOBILE?

And A-HA?

Wait, no, definitely NOT the Batmobile…might still be a-ha, though…no, wait. Think they might be ghosts? I mean, the title of the song is “Say You’ll Haunt Me.”

Oh. The Amish Mafia! I didn’t even know the Amish HAD a mafia.

And what do the Amish Mafia keep in the trunk of their car?

Yep, you guessed it!

Corey Taylor!

And now…pipes…

…and Corey Taylor is a ghost while he’s also not a ghost. Ooookay.

I will spare you the walking sequence and just get to the part where non-ghost Corey is forced to sit in a chair and come to terms with his past.

Yep, he dated a girl who liked to cosplay as Gerard Way during the “Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge” era.

A girlfriend who, like Gerard Way, can summon ghosts to project themselves over…well, I don’t know if this is supposed to mean these guys are POSSESSED by the band members, ’cause they are the band members, or what this is supposed to mean.

Okay, okay she doesn’t summon them, the projections come from these cool little devices on the ground and this just got a lot more interesting.

And she knows it, because she’s going to get the whole thing on video.

But first she’s gonna rough up Corey for a bit.

Ghost Corey is unsure how he feels about this turn of events.

So, yeah, standard “I’m tied to a chair while my evil girlfriend taunts and grinds against me while her friends, possibly possessed by my bandmates, watch.” I see this trope ALL THE TIME.

And now: BONDAGE!

Well, they put a bag over Corey’s head. That’s kinda kinky, right?

And now there’s this machine involved…

…and it’s project ghost!Corey, I suppose better to torment non-ghost Corey? I don’t…

…WAIT. WAIT.

COREY TAYLOR, YOU ARE IN A CHAIR WITH A BAG ON YOUR HEAD. YOU SHOULD NOT BE STANDING THERE, FRESHLY SHAVEN AND IN A SUIT!

REMEMBER? HEAD IN A BAG? SOMEBODY’S HEAD IS STILL IN THAT BAG!

…oh. My. God.

MINDFREAK!

It’s your girlfriend who no longer looks evil and is now just kind of either scared or confused. Like you were…

…but YOU’RE taunting her and acting evil…brain switch?

But there’s still the matter of unshaven-ghost-Corey on the screen of that really cool looking machine. What’s up with that?

Oh, well. Now he’s red. And so are the other ghost projections…is this like Pac Man? When they change color they’re edible?

And the whole thing ends with Taylor doing his impression of David Caruso on CSI: Miami.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAH!

Honestly, I’m not 100% sure what I just saw, but I think I kinda liked it.
