The Cab to Release ‘Symphony Soldiers’ this Fall

While playing on the AP/Advent stage on the 2010 Vans Warped Tour (check out my wrap up of the Pittsburgh date), The Cab have been promising their fans a new album. They’ve told audiences that the delay in the release was to ensure that their sophomore effort is good enough for all of the fans who have supported them. And, while Warped fans have been treated to a new song here and there, mostly they’ve still been in the dark about the new release.

However, The Cab have officially announced that they’ll be releasing their new album, titled Symphony Soldiers, this fall.

The three Alexs from Las Vegas (Johnson-drums, Marshall-keyboard and guitar and DeLeon-vocals) have said that the sound on the new album is “Whisper War on steroids,” and in an interview with Ragged Magazine, Alex “Singer” DeLeon described the album in just one word: “Us.” In order to get the sound they wanted, the boys teamed up with producers like Danja, who’s worked with Justin Timberlake and Timbaland, and Claude Kelly, who’s produced for Britney Speas and Kelly Clarkson.

But, wait. Doesn’t that title sound a bit familiar? Well, yes. After all, their lead singer has the words “Symphony Soldier” tattooed on himself. Presumptuous? Maybe, but hey, Steven Tyler of Aerosmith went out and got the words “Ma’ Kin” tattooed on his arm in anticipation of the band’s first album because he knew it would be a success (He actually wanted to get “Mama Kin,” the full title of the song, but apparently his arm was too skinny).

Make sure to catch the boys on every date on this year’s Warped Tour. AND make sure you find out each day when they’re signing at the American Rag tent.
