The Easiest Updos Ever

Different styles for different people… How many times have you seen a photo of your fav actress and have you tried to re-create the same look?

InStyle has choose 5 icons for help you in the right way, following 3 simple steps.

The High Bun

Jessica Alba‘s style is sophisticated and modern, plus the headband gives it a relaxed feel so it’s not so serious,” says her stylist Robert Ramos.

STEP ONE Let your hair dry naturally, then finger-comb it back into a ponytail at the top of your head. STEP TWO Separate the ponytail into two or three sections, which makes the bun more manageable to handle, and loosely wrap them each around the base, securing with bobby pins as you twist. STEP THREE To keep the style from being “too slick and flat,” rub a dollop of texturizing cream between your hands and work it into the front of the hair.

The Side Braid

“Leona Lewis’s braid is soft and not severe. It’s perfect for girls who still like to have some hair around their face,” says her stylist, Ben Cooke.

STEP ONE Gather your hair on one side of your head and split into two handfuls. STEP TWO For a fishtail braid, like Lewis’s, pull a small section from the bottom of one handful and bring it around to the top of other. Repeat. Cooke also likes a conventional braid created from three unevenly-sized ropes. STEP THREE Tie-off the end of your braid with a clear elastic and “pull out a few bits to give it a rough, un-schoolgirlish” finish

The Cascading Ponytail

“I love this look on Olivia Wilde because it’s an updo that still feels full and sexy,” says Charles Dujic, who created it.

STEP ONE Pull hair into a ponytail at the crown of the head. (Dujic then secured a matching hair piece, which are widely available, on top of the ponytail for extra volume.) STEP TWO Curl random sections with a 1-1/2 inch iron. “Loosen the spirals with your fingers to keep it from looking too styled,” Dujic says. STEP THREE If you’re not using a hair piece, conceal your elastic by wrapping a small section of hair around the base of your ponytail, and finish with a mist of hairspray.

The Tidy Twist

Hairstylist Giannandrea gave Drew Barrymore this sleek, tight style for the 2010 Golden Globes.

STEP ONE Part hair on the side; slick down by combing with a hairspray-coated round brush. STEP TWO Using the part as your guide, divide the hair in two uneven sections. Gather the larger one at the crown of your head, and begin twisting inwards, adding small sections from the opposite side as you work your way down. STEP THREE At the nape of your neck, tuck the remaining hair up and under and secure with a u-shaped hairpin, which are available at most drugstores. The style works best on those with shoulder-length hair.

The Low Braided Bun

“Kristen Bell’s look is the perfect mix of elegant and effortless,” says hairstylist Craig Gangi, who created the style.

STEP ONE Spritz dry hair with texturizer and pull into a low, loose ponytail. Don’t worry if hair falls around the face-that’s part of the style’s appeal. STEP TWO Pull out a small section of hair from the ponytail and braid. STEP THREE Twist the unbraided hair into a bun, the wrap the plait around the bun and secure tightly with pins.
